One thing I’ve heard from a lot of you about 2020 is that even with all the challenge, change and grief it brought, it forced most of us to S L O W   W A Y  D O W N. You may even see some things that have changed in your life as a silver lining in an otherwise devastating situation.

I feel that deeply.

In slowing down, I’ve noticed things about my life and my family. I have felt like I have fresh eyes and a better understanding of who we are as individuals, and as a team.

An essential part of self-care is to bring awareness to your present moment.

Have you ever watched a child see something for the first time? If you have, you know the look in their eyes and can almost hear the gears turning in their mind. They are at once curious, delighted, and in awe. You can feel the wonder.

Wonder is a word I don’t use often.

But there is no better word for the experience of seeing something new, or looking at something familiar in a new way, with child-like curiosity and awe.

No matter what our holiday traditions are, this time of year can be a special invitation for us to attune ourselves to something special and BE in that moment with it.

It can be so nourishing for our hearts and mind to allow ourselves to be lost in the moment, to be filled with wonder and awe, even in the ordinary.  Especially in the ordinary.

Try this…

Choose a holiday decorative item around your home that you will see every day. Every time you see that item, let it remind you to pause and take a moment for wonder, what is wonder-ful about this moment? Be open. Be curious. Allow yourself to have fresh eyes and an open heart.

Journal this…

  • Some of our holiday/end-of-year traditions that are NOT impacted by the pandemic are…
  • What/who is a source of JOY for me right now…
  • One place I (could) feel wonder and “awe” is…
  • I am grateful for…
  • My self-care intention today is…

What will you do to take care of yourself today?  Hit reply and let me know.

With love and care from my heart to yours,

Jenny
