Hi There,

One question I get asked often is what assessment tools I use in my coaching.

While I am well versed in various tools, my favorite is the Gallup Clifton StrengthsAssessment.

I have found this assessment tool and the materials from Gallup to be straightforward, actionable, and incredibly versatile.

That there are 34 different strengths with each person learning their top 5.

Here’s why I love this tool so much:

You might not mention on your resume that you are an ENFJ (Myers Briggs)….

but you might highlight that your top five strengths are Communication, Activator, Focus, Empathy, and Connection.

Or, you might not share your Enneagram number with your boss…

but you may organize your performance review by the strengths you demonstrate in your role.

You might not share your Love Language with your new investor…

But you might show your appreciation for their contribution in a way that feels authentic and meaningful.

In my 10 years of coaching, I’ve coached hundreds of people and have many real-life examples of how their strengths show up in the world.

So I thought it would be fun (and informative) to share some of the strengths that I see repeatedly in my client base. You may see yourself in some of these strengths!

The first one I’d like to feature is one of mine – maybe it is one of yours too?

It’s EMPATHY.

Empathy is considered a relationship strength. (It makes sense!)

It means an ability to feel for and with another person.

Someone with Empathy as a top strength easily builds trust with others and is able to customize their approach to different people and different circumstances.

They might be able to “read the room.”

They might have a reputation among colleagues and friends as someone who is kind and intentional.

They might notice when the tone of a conversation shifts and can illuminate what other people miss.

They might feel like a safe person to confide in and trust.

And often, they seem to know just what to say or do.

Historically, Empathy hasn’t been welcomed or celebrated in many corporate environments, but I’ve seen that changing as more organizations recognize the power of this strength in their workforce and leaders.
