Soft ground for hard days

It’s not just you. It’s a lot.

I keep hearing over and over again from my clients and friends – and the quiet voice in my head –  how intense life is right now.

The pace and challenges of 2026 are already feeling heavy and we’re only 2 weeks into the New Year.

Often when we get overwhelmed, our self-sustaining practices fall to the wayside. It isn’t a conscious choice, of course, it is usually us trying to keep everything and everyone afloat.

Do you know this pattern, too?

If you are feeling like life is intense or overwhelming right now – hear this:

It is okay to rest. To pause. To recharge.

By giving yourself the needed time, grace & space to reset, you are practicing self-love. A quote that is just as relevant today as when Audre Lorde first shared it in A Burst of Light and Other Essays is:

“Caring for myself is not self-indulgence. It is self-preservation, and that is an act of political warfare.”

So rather than sending you a list of 5 steps to kick off the New Year or encouragement to keep pushing, pushing, PUSHING! forward. I want to encourage you to slow down and listen to yourself.

And, as some inspiration, here is a poem that I’ve shared with you before that feels perfect for this moment:

A LOT

By Donna Ashworth

I could tell you

to make amazing things happen

today

this week

this year.

And maybe you would.

But what I really want to tell you

is how amazing

what you already do every day is.

It’s a lot my friend

your life is a lot

the world is a lot

your mind is a lot.

So today

this week

this year

why don’t you take some time

to look at what you already do

and what an impressive machine

you actually are.

You’re a whole lot

(and that’s more than enough).

With love from your coach,

Jenny
