Several years ago, I was doing some planning for my business and I decided to expand my scope (as I often guide my clients) to include planning for my personal life, too.  After all, for me, they are really integrated.

After brainstormed all the BIG things I wanted to accomplish, and how I wanted to feel when they were in place or complete, I asked myself one of my favorite coaching questions:

“What is going to stand in my way of accomplishing all of my goals?”

The usual responses came to mind along with my own self-doubts. 

But, then I paused.  

And when I looked at my notes and what I didn’t see was the real answer to “what is going to stand in the way?”  

All of the plans and visions I have for my life and business were dependent on one thing, and that one thing was not represented at all in my daily routine at the time. 

How can I make big plans for myself that do not include taking care of myself?  

I can’t.  

My Vision was dependent on a happy and healthy Jenny. 

At that moment I realized that I had to make self-care a priority in order to live the life I want to live and achieve my Vision. 

This was a HUGE shift for me.  As in, “I’ve-just-run-into-a-brick-wall” AH HA! kind of moment!  It shifted my approach to my own life and inspired me to focus on self-care as a primary component of my coaching. 

Here’s what I believe:  if you have big dreams for yourself — or if you are ready to get out of a rut — self-care MUST be a part of your plan. 

I have heard from so many clients and friends that they have lost touch with themselves and don’t even know what would feel nourishing and supportive any more.

I GET IT.  

Our needs change throughout our lives. What served you a few years (or months!) ago, may not have the same impact now.
