I’ve had a first day of school tradition where, after we send our People (aka my kids) off to school, I host a brunch and do something fun outdoors with other parents. We’ve done something different every year but it always involves being near water and enjoying each other before we end our “playdate” and pick up the People.

When I first created this event, it was really answering my need for connecting with other women and being playful. Honestly, it is one of the days I look forward to most in the whole year!

This year, with the uncertainty of COVID, hosting a a group didn’t feel right (again!) but I knew I wanted to mark the day for myself, so I tuned in to:  what do I need now?

I need to feel grounded. Connected. At peace. (All needs that have been challenging to meet during these last 18 months of uncertainty, anxiety, change, and SO MUCH TOGETHERNESS.)

I decided to do something new:  I took myself on a solo hike (with my dog Gus) where I can connect with nature, be alone to think, and move my body.  I went to one of my favorite hiking trails, just a few miles from my house.

Shocker:  I had a fantastic day!  I moved my body. I let myself work through some of the anxiety that this new school year brings. I felt deep gratitude for my city, my family, my business and my body. Through sweat and tears I knew I was doing EXACTLY what I needed to do. And when I reunited with my People at the end of the day, I was more grounded and more resourced than I had felt in a long time.

Tuning in to what I need on any given day is one of the transformational habits I’ve learned for my self-care.

YES:  even a self-care coach has to actively CHOOSE to be in self-care mode.

Never has it been more clear to me that we must CHOOSE to take care of ourselves in order to be ready for what life throws at us. Whether you are ready to go after a big dream, or if you are ready to get out of a rut, self-care MUST be a part of your plan.

That’s why I’m so excited to share a free workshop with you to help you take a pause and get clear, nourished and energized for your self-care plan for the fall (and beyond!).

Join me to create Your Essential Self-Care Plan for Fall on Thursday, Sept. 2 at 12:00 pm CT.

You’ll get a taste of what I teach my clients in the Grace & Space Self-Care Circle – and why they keep coming back round after round! 😉

Because it’s time to shift from “I should be taking better care of myself” to “Now I know what I need and how to do it.”

Come. Enjoy. Get clear.

I can’t wait to see you there!

PS – Maybe you’ve taken this workshop in previous years? I’ve refreshed the content and your circumstances have probably changed! I invite you to join in again as you come back home to yourself.

PPS – This is a LIVE workshop that will NOT be recorded. If you can’t make it, but want to stay in the loop for future self-care related offerings, drop me a note. I love to hear from you and welcome a chance to know you better.
